Denham and Whitehead to rebel

Southampton's local MP’s are to rebel against the protection of the UK. John Denham and Alan Whitehead are supporting the amendment tabled by Jon Trickett, which calls for more consideration of "the strategic case, costs and design" and a further Commons vote before a final decision is taken. Are Denham and Whitehead going back to their old Socialist roots?

Hardly suprising. Wasn't Alan Whitehead leader of Southampton City Council during the loony left days when the city declared itself a nuclear free zone and tried to ban the Royal Navy from the port?

All governments of all political persuasions have supported Britain's independent nuclear deterent. Who knows what dangers we will face as a nation in decades to come? It would be extremely foolish to abandon our ultimate deterent now.
