On the Southampton City Council web site they give suggestions as to how to reduce the amount of waste that you produce. I have also added the link for Christmas collections.

The city's household waste recycling centre is on the other side of Itchen Bridge (only Southampton Council would charge people to drive to remove there waste!!!). It is open in the summer between 8am - 7pm and in the winter between 8am - 4.30pm.
